Penzance Business Network launch web site

The Penzance Business Network web site has a 79 page slide presentation that explains the new Option PZ scheme in a clear and easy to understand format.

“This ancient Borough is at a crossroads and in some state of decline. It deserves to have a great future, but very often those making important decisions which affect us all, do so with little commercial acumen; sometimes, they simply fail to see the area’s true potential. The Network has been established to represent business people in the area and we very much hope you will join us.”

The myth of battery rocks

Cabinet Member awaits the verdict of English Heritage on the Battery Rocks scheme.

Editor of The Cornishman supports Council Twitter gang

By Jacqui Walls

“On Monday, I was actually following Cllr Andrew Wallis as he posted regular Twitter updates on the discussion in Cabinet about the future of Penzance Harbour. At no point did he give an opinion on what was taking place (his position on the strategic planning committee would have made it difficult for him to openly comment), he just gave a straight report of what was going on in occasional one-liners from his Twitter account. And I, for one, thought it was brilliant. I felt as though I was almost part of that meeting because I could find out what was going on in real-time.”

Harbour debate hots up.

st-michealsmountOver on the C24 forums, the author with the pen name “Bucca boo”  suddenly lost their head after forum moderator TK (TeamKernow) mentioned the Duke of Cornwall’s involvement in the Penzance Route Partnership scheme.

Bucca boo wrote….

“I notice TEAM Kernow has just chimed in with his usual rant about some jug eared twat….thats irrelevant tk….ther will be no buying of fundus or foreshaw you petty git…and you know it you s**t stirrring gob s*ite…

Tk has shown his colours here……f*ck Pz f*ck IOS ….so long as i can have my petty go at CHAS WINDSOR THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING……..

tk you really are that petty ……and you dare to represent Cornwall on your petty platform …how sad.”

That’s a very nice way to refer to the Prince of Wales.

TK replied back very politely in their usual purple style…

Not so petty, Bucca boo.

TK kicked off this thread to see where it would lead with the view that it might help in some way towards an all round satisfactory and happy outcome being achieved.

One place it seems shy of leading to is the door of The Duchy (corp div) – the chief single beneficiary.

That is curious.

TK take an interest in this situation in more ways than one.

Your gratuitous rancour and foul language is completely unnecessary and helps no-one, least of all yourself.

One thing you can be certain of is this:

The finely manicured sharp and slippery fingers of The Duchy of Cornwall (corp div) – both visible and less visible – can be found in many different pies.”

Is the Chamber of Commerce running a behind the scenes campaign?

Posted on Cornwall24 today…

“More sinister goings-on.  Members of Cornwall Council’s Strategic Planning Committee (which recently voted to refuse Option A), are now being bombarded with e-mails badgering, even bullying, them to reverse their decision.  These are coming from various traders, the Chairman of the Penzance Chamber of Commerce, Consols Oils and the Penzance and District Tourist Association.

The e-mail onslaught began on Wednesday, right after the Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Penzance Newlyn Rugby Club, which was unusually closed to the public (although at least 2 opponents of Option A were present, through being members of the CofC).  Councillor Hicks, Kevin Bennetts of Consols Oils and a Cornwall Highways officer were also present (why is a paid officer at an evening meeting called to get a democratic decision of his employers reversed?  That surely calls for a query or three).”

Follow the C24 forum thread here.

UPDATE: Message from Cllr Andrew Wallis via Twitter…

One_Cornwall I for one can say they are. My e-mail has been flooded with e-mails.
